CARBONDALE -- Donald Myles Bornsheuer, 61, Carbondale, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at His home.

Mr. Bornsheuer was a sanitation technician for the Shawnee County Refuse Department for 18 years before he retired in 1996. He earlier had worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Illinois for 15 years, and he was a materials handler for several years for two different factories in Illinois.

He was born April 17, 1938, at Bradford, Ill., the son of Charles Henry and Mabel Linda Harris Bornsheuer. He graduated from Tiskilwa, Ill., High School in 1956. Mr. Bornsheuer was a longtime member of the Four Corners Billiard League.

He was married to Norma Jean Whitebread in 1982 in Miami, Okla. She died Sept. 15, 1987. He was married to Shirley May Grant on Sept. 10, 1988, at Scranton. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Rick Bornsheuer, Princeton, Ill., and Donald J. Bornsheuer, Buda, Ill.; three daughters, Pamela Gould, Buda, Ill., Paula Rosene, Tampico, Ill., and Patricia Brose, Kewanee, Ill.; two stepsons, Lyndon Grant, Orange Park, Fla., and Ky Grant, Black Mountain, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Parkey, Valley Falls, and Jana Grant, Carbondale; three brothers, Charles H. Bornsheuer Jr., Texas City, Texas, Robert L. Bornsheuer, Alexandria, Va., and Ralph M. Bornsheuer, Aurora, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Cundiff, Peoria, Ill., Shirley A. Alexander and Mary Bornsheuer, both of Princeton, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Dengel and Son Mortuary Ottawa.

Burial will be at Union Cemetery at Osage City.

Mr. Bornsheuer will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of the mortuary.
