Dr. Fincke was born in Millvale, PA, near Pittsburgh, in 1925. He was a graduate of the Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia. He received a Doctor of Divinty degree from Highland College in Pasadena, CA. He was ordained by the Bible Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Covenant Presbytery.
He was the son of the late George W. and Margaret Christian Fincke.
He was the Senior Pastor of Covenant Bible Church in Fishing Creek, NJ, pastor of Calvary Bible Presbyterian Church, Glendale, CA, and Calvary Bible Presbyterian Church in Cotesville, PA. He was also Dean of Student Affairs at Shelton College, Cape May, NJ. In retirement, he attended Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Wildwood, NJ.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S Rudderow (DE-224) in World War II.
He was the founder of the first Christian School in Cape May County, Heritage Academy. He served as President of the Bayshore Kiwanis. And was the host of ‘call-in' radio show "Let's Talk" on Sunday evenings on WRIO-FM for 15 years.
He was married to Mary Louise Patterson Fincke for 51 years. They had a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Fincke Doward, and four sons, the Rt. Rev. George Brian, Timothy Christian, David Alan, and Mark Richard.
Services were at Covenant Bible Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at 123 Fishing Creek Road in North Cape May. Burial at the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetary in Cape May Court House, NJ. Arrangments by Evoy Funeral Home, North Cape May.
