Mrs. Mabel Hogan, aged 93 years and a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday morning May 29, 2004.

Born In McLeod, Alberta on January 13, 1911, she was the daughter of the late James and Mabel Jones. Mabel came to Murillo where she received her education in local schools. She was married to Gordon Hogan in August of 1934 and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this year.

In the 1920's Mabel was a pitcher for the Murillo baseball team and pitched a no-hitter. In the later years she joined the Fort William Curling Club and with her team scored an Eight Ender. Mabel loved to cook, she loved traveling, camping and she especially loved her camp at Anderson Lake which was a main enjoyment in her life with her grandchildren and great grand children.

Lovingly remembered by her husband Gordon at home, son Lawrence and daughter in law Harleen, grand children Shannon (Stan), great grand children Holly, Marlon and Shannon; daughter in law Eila Hogan and grand children Tim and wife Helen and family Rileigh and Spencer and grandchildren Tracey and great granddaughter Hailey, grandchildren Terry, Tod; Sister Doris (Ab) Bernst and family, nieces, and nephews, also close friends Tom and Iris Durnford and a close friend Helen. Predeceased by her parents, son Ronald, brother Donald, and Ted Jones, a sister Edith and Roland Martyn, Carrie and Eric Schussler and Evelyn and Gunnar Almgren, step father Hugh Hamilton, step brothers Scotty Hamilton (Marge) and half brother Bob Hamilton and numerous other relatives in Canda and the U.S.A.

A Memeroal service for Mabel Hogan will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre. Rev. Jack White will officiate and interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations to the St. Joseph's Care Group would be greatly appreciated.
