Elvis Edgar Steakley Sr., 72, of Lepanto, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at SMC Medical Center in Osceola.
Elvis was known as "A MAN WHO LOVED HIS FAMILY." He was a member of Church of Christ in Lepanto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Erie Steakley; brothers, EJ Steakley and Everett Steakley; and a sister, Mildren Reagan.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bettye Steakley of the home; son, Elvis "Ed" Steakley Jr. and wife Connie of Lepanto; daughter, Tami Steakley Strosahl and husband Ronnie of Edgewater, Fla.; son, Michael Steakley and wife Laura of Lepanto; and sisters, May Gatewood of Osceola and Pat Ferrell of West Ridge.
He was known as "papa" to his surviving eight grandchildren, Jonathan Barney, Becky Blagg, Hannah Barney, Bryan Steakley, Missy Barney, Stephanie Steakley, Chris Steakley and Bobby Dean Steakley; and great-granddaughter, Charley Barney.
Funeral services were held in the funeral home.
Pallbearers were: Lynn Steakley, Bobby Ferrell, Jonathan Barney, Bryan Steakley, Chris Steakley and Whit Steakley.
Burial was in Potter Memorial Cemetery.
