Rosella Bailey ‘Rose' Brown was born November 19, 1869, in Wellsville, Utah, the daughter of Joshua and Sarah Bailey Brown. She attended school in Wellsville, and at Brigham Young College, in Logan.

On September 29, 1897, Rose married Willard White Pitkin in the Logan Temple. Willard was born September 26, 1873 in Millville, the son of George Orrin and Maria Laverna Wood Pitkin. He was born in a log cabin with a dirt floor. Will experienced the hardships and joys of early life in Millville. He attended school in the old rock school, and as a youth, he spent many days in the mountains, herding cattle, with his Uncle Jay Pitkin. As the eldest son, he had to assume much responsibility at an early age. L.D.S church authorities often stayed at their home, and it was Will's job to take care of their horses.

Less than a month after their wedding, Will left for a mission to the Southern States, traveling without purse or script. He and Rose were active in the church throughout their lives. Will was a farmer and also worked at the Sugar Factory and hauled milk for the Borden Company. He was an honest upright man, and his word could be depended on.

Rose taught school at Mt. Sterling, and worked at the Wellsville Co-op and the Wellsville Creamery. She had a beautiful contralto voice, was a member of the Logan Choir, and was soloist in one of the anthems sang at the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple. She was also a gifted dancer, and was often called to perform.

Rose and Will celebrated their golden wedding in 1947.

Will spent his last few years with his daughter, Afton Hulse.

Will and Rose were parents of Orrin (Virginia Lillick), Afton (Selwyn Hulse), Cecil (Evelyn Brown), Carmen (Perry Brown), Leola (Elmer Wood), and Rex (Lucille Lucherine).
