Services for Elihue Kennedy, 79, who died Sept. 10th in the hospital at Hayti, were held Sept 12th at 2 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with C. Brodie Harrel officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.
He was born May 6th, 1899 in Millageville, Tenn., the son of the late John and Mollie Kennedy. On Sept. 4th, 1926 in Tiptonville, Tenn., he married Julia Ann Thurman.
The family moved to Pemiscot County in 1951. He was engaged in farming and was later an employee of Betz-Tipton before retiring.
A member of the Central Church of Christ, his hobby was working with wood and refinishing furniture.
Survivors include his wife of Caruthersville; two sons, John H. Kennedy of O'Fallon, Ill., and Lonnie D. Kennedy of Hayti; two daughters, Mrs. John Burnett of Caruthersville and Mrs. Martha Phillips of St. Louis; two brothers, Sanford Kennedy of Bradford, Ark. and Alfred Kennedy of Henderson, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cletus Burnett, Chester Burnett, Barry Burnett, John H. Kennedy Jr., Randy Phillips and Willis Green.
