Alfred J. "Joe" Humphrey, age 74, formerly of Cashmere and the Methow Valley, passed away on July 9, 1998, at his home in North Bend. At his request no services will be held. Burial will be at the Methow Cemetery.

Joe was born on April 20, 1924, in Steamboat Rock, Wash., the son of Alfred and Ellen Humphrey. He was raised in Pateros, Grand Coulee and Republic and graduated from Entiat High School.

He married Jacque Auvil on Nov. 9, 1945, in Methow. While living in Cashmere he was an operating engineer for S&D Paving in Wenatchee. The family moved to North Bend in 1993.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Jacque Humphrey of North Bend; his children, Murl and Scott Humphrey of North Bend, and Kevin Humphrey of Deer Park; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Roger, in 1995, and one grandson, Shaun.

Remembrances may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital.
