Emmy Amanda LUND was born on 2 February 1895 in San Francisco, San Francisco County, California. She was the daughter of John August LUND and Hilma Sofia BÄCHMAN.

Emmy and her family lived in San Francisco, California during the earthquake of 1906. Their family lost everything. Her father, John August Lund, and his brother, Fredrick Lund, brought their families into one household. The two men pooled resources and as soon as the family was financially able, because of their affiliation with the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, they relocated to Independence, Missouri. It was in Independence, Missouri that Emmy met and married Vernon Beal.

She appeared in the census in 1930 in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. Emmy was listed as Emma A. Beal.

Emmy died in 1984 in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. She was in excellent health but had a series of small stokes when she was in her 80s. She died of a heart attack when she was 89 years old.

She had Social Security Number 487-68-1089, issued in Missouri. Her last residence was in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.

Vernon and Emmy had the following children:

1. Mabel Bernice BEAL was born on 26 October 1915 in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri, and passed away on 28 September 2007 in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. She married Lee Roy Schulenberg on 19 December 1934 in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.

2. Vernon Orville (Bud) BEAL Jr. was born on 30 March 1917. He was with an anti-aircraft battery in World War II and landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy in June of 1944 on D-Day plus 6.

3. Wilma Lois (Billie) BEAL was born on 15 August 1921.

4. Marian Ruth BEAL was born on 8 May 1926 in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.

She died on 11 November 1995 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

Her remains were cremated and her ashes are in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

5. John Frederick (Freddie) BEAL was born in 1932. He died in 1935 when he was three years old from strep throat. "My mother had called frantically to meet them at the intersection - right now - they needed more blood at Children's Mercy Hospital where Freddie was -- he had had 4 transfusions -- one from Daddy, one from me, and 2 from Bud. It was in a day when it had to match exactly and it was a rare blood -- to hurry -- I was married and we had a rattletrap truck -- but we hurried -- I got there -- they did the transfusion -- it was a side by side thing like they used to do -- I remember the doctor saying -- we've done all we can do -- so it was 5 days -- 5 transfusions -- till Freddie died. A few months later penicillin was available to cure strep throat. It must have been summer -- I don't remember dates of anything. He was just a baby. John Frederick Beal -- 3 years old. "

Just a note with dates we found. Hope you are ok -- Mabel." Enclosed with that note was an index card that simply said,
