Lorna Doone Siddoway Broadbent "It's nice to have a home to come home to."

Lorna Doone Siddoway Broadbent, named for her mother's favorite literary heroine, after living 93 exhilarating, sparkling years, quietly passed away at home on a very fitting day, the Fourth of July, 2006. The youngest of nine children, Lorna was born April 11, 1913 in Vernal, Utah, to William Henry and Emily Jane Dunster Siddoway.

She sang and danced her way through childhood and youth in Vernal, graduating from Uintah High School in 1931. Being one of the fairest co-eds they sing about, Lorna graduated from the University of Utah in 1935 and remained an avid supporter of the U. throughout her life.

She attended business school at South Western University in Los Angeles, California, and caught the eye of livestock man, J.R. Broadbent, at a South Los Angeles Stake dance. They married September 11, 1936, in the Salt Lake LDS temple and raised their twin sons and daughter in California, while making homes in Huntington Park, California, Salt Lake City, Utah, and the ranch in Evanston, Wyoming, simultaneously.

Later they settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, spending winters in the California Imperial Valley. Lorna served her family, friends, and the Lord with boundless energy. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she faithfully fulfilled her callings, including speech and drama director, teaching in the auxiliaries, Visiting Teacher, and in leadership positions including Relief Society president, stake and ward Primary president and as a member of the Primary General Board, serving with LaVern Parmley.

A delightfully social little lady, she enjoyed hostessing at the Church office building for 11 years, She was the president of three different PTAs in two states, Mother's clubs and many social clubs. Always organized and well prepared, Lorna arrived everywhere beautifully dressed, matching from head to toe.

Well traveled and well read, she surrounded herself with beautiful things, made sure her children and grandchildren were educated, had the means to serve LDS missions, and learned to appreciate the arts she loved so.

Every summer for 45 years she treated her children and grandchildren, and now great-grand-children, to a marvelous three days at the Shakespearean festival in Cedar City, Utah. Her relatives and dear friends were of utmost importance to her and she enjoyed gathering with them anytime, anywhere!

She passed to her children, Joe (Carol) and Ray (Deena) of Evanston Wyoming, and Colleen (Tom) Paddock of Bountiful, a proud pioneer legacy, a love for family and friends, and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Her favorite cowboy, husband J.R., preceded her in death as well as her parents and siblings. What a joyful reunion they are having now.

She is survived by her children, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Elaine Porter and all the wonderful women for their loving care.
