Dorothy Mae Nichols-Phillips, 88, of Jenny Lind passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was retired from Fort Chaffee Laundry, a homemaker and member of the Rye Hill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Jewel Amos Nichols and Escue Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Burtie Smith; four brothers, Thurman, Elmer Lee, Alfred and Verl Gene Smith; and one sister, Leata Faye Smith.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at Rye Hill Baptist Church with interment at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Franklin Nichols of Fort Smith and Carl Wayne Nichols of Huntington; two daughters, Jewell Dean Clark of Pocola and Kathy King of Tulsa; three brothers, Alvin Smith of Greenwood, Jim Smith of Mansfield and Marion Smith of Fayetteville; three sisters, Inis Taylor of Jenny Lind, Myrle Dean Kerr of Rye Hill and Margaret Cook of Rye Hill; nine grandchildren, David Nichols, Steven Nichols, Randy T. Clark, Nelson Nichols, Bryan King, Lora Sharleen Gipson, Sheryl Clark, Carla Roberts and Kerry King; and 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher Nichols, Michael Gipson, Matthew Nichols, Garrett King, Adam Gipson, Megan Nichols, Katlyn Gipson, Riley Rose Clark, Miranda Roberts and Amanda Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Larry Daggett, Nelson Nichols, Bryan King, Randy Clark, Roger Cook and Larry Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
