Virgil J. Armstrong died on Friday, July 16, 2004, after a long battle with COPD. He was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Cody to Carl and Ella Marie Shipp Armstrong.
Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting big game for himself, as well as being a professional guide in the Thorofare area achieving ‘Guide of the Year Award' from the Wyoming Outfitters Association. He worked as a heavy equipment operator on road construction, working on nearly every major road in Wyoming and Montana. He also enjoyed fishing, but most of all in later years, just spending time with family.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Debbie, of 54 years; son, John (Charlotte) and children Kari, Keela and Jeff; son, Randy (Sandy) and children Christi (Daryl) Rose, Shannon and Matthew; son, Rodney and daughter Misti; and great-grandchildren Hunter, Chase and Garrett (Christi) and Mya (Keela).
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Lovell Cemetery.
