Chas S. Gowin Passes Away At Home Of His Son
Was First Of A Family Of Twelve Children To Die

Chas. S. Gowin aged 70 passed away at 9:00 o'clock last night at the home of his son C. W. Gowin of Princeton. His illness covered a period of about a month. He was a native of Washington County but had lived in Spencer forty years. Mr. Gowin was a well known citizen of Taylorsville a number of years and his going has brought deep sorrow t many friends here. He was the eldest of a family of twelve children and the first to pass away. He is survived by two sons, Messrs. William and Wakefield Gowin and one daughter, Mrs. Roy Patton, his aged mother Mrs. George Ann Gowin five sisters, Mrs. Henry Hall of Taylorsville, Mrd. Ed Dugan of Bloomfield, Mrs. Thos. McQuirk of Lawrenceburg, Mrs. Annie Clark and Mrs. Edna Deboy both of Miami, Florida and six brothers, Messrs. Will, John, and Richard of Illinois, Earl of Ohio, James of Miami and Robert of Louisville. The body will be brought this evening to the home of his son Will Gowin and funeral services will be held from the local Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery.
