Funeral Services are to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009, with military to follow at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Interment will follow at the Lizton K of P Cemetery at Lizton, Indiana.

Age: 86. Widowed. City of Residence: Greenwood, Indiana. Date of Death: Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 9:20 a.m. Place of Death: at the home of his daughter in Greenwood, Indiana. Cause of Death: Natural Causes following an extended illness.

Mr. Scamahorn was born near Pittsboro, Indiana, on August 13, 1922. He was the son of the late Marion Other "Jack" and Bessie Florence (Wilson) Scamahorn.

He spent his first fifteen years near Pittsboro, Indiana and moved to Boone County. He played basketball and baseball at Pinnell High School where he graduated in 1942. He served in the United States Air Force for forty months during World War II.

In Chicopee, Massachusetts he was married on January 11, 1945, to Ruth Louise (Lutes) Scamahorn. Mrs. Scamahorn died on January 28, 1996.

He farmed for five years. Then he worked at Winklers which became Stewart-Warner Corporation in Lebanon for thirty-one years where he retired in 1981.

He served as a Boy Scout Leader and was a Little League baseball manager for the Shelby Chevrolet team for several years.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather interested in his family. He moved about four years ago to Greenwood to make his home with a daughter, Melody Booker.

Memberships: He was a dedicated member of the First Community Church in Lebanon since 1952. He was also a longtime member of the Steel Workers of America

Survivors: Three Children: Mrs. Melody C. Booker - Greenwood, Indiana; Mr. R. Thomas Scamahorn and wife, Debbie – Noblesville, Indiana; and Mrs. Mary Ann Christmas and husband, Greg – Milton, Delaware. Five Grandchildren: Lynn Scamahorn – Newburgh, Indiana; Holly Scamahorn – Boulder, Colorado; Angela Lewis – Indianapolis, Indiana; John Booker, Jr. – Bloomington, Indiana; and William Booker – Bloomington, Indiana. Two Step Grandchildren.

Deceased: A son, Russell Eugene Scamahorn, a brother, Matthew Scamahorn, a half-brother, Walter Scamahorn, a half-sister, Effie (Phillips) Alexander, a sister, Marian Lucille Green, and a granddaughter, Beverly Booker, are deceased.
