"MRS. RUSSELL'S DEATH"
It is with peculiar sorrow that we record this death of
Mrs. Sallie Russell, the aged mother of many children well
known in this city and elsewhere. Mrs Russell had not been in bad health although 84 years of age and hence
her death following immediatly after
a stroke of paralysis shocked the community with surprise and sorrow. The burial occured Saturdary afternoon and
was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends many of whom came from a distance. Mrs Russell
was an sister of Mrs. Susan White lately deceased who was ten years her senior. The latter was left a widow
33 years ago while Mrs. Russell had been a widow almost as long. They were sisters of Hon John D White, Congressman from this district over fifty years ago. They were also cousins of late Congressman Addison White of Alabama and exCongressman John D White of Manchester.
Mrs Russells children are Mrs. Mary Tevis of this city, Mrs Thomas Hogue of Washington Ga, Mrs I Tevis Wilkerson of Lexington and Misses Sudie and Dora Russell of this
city all of whom were devoted to their mother and rendered her long widowhood as happy as dutiful and affectionate children should.
