The funeral service for former Henry Countian and railroad employee Carl Wheatley of Sevierville will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Bill Warman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled 6-7 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.

Wheatley, 87, died Monday July 6, 2009, at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center in Sevierville.

His wife, Lovelle Whitney Wheatley, survives. They were married in 1946.

Born July 30, 1921, in Faxon, he was a son of George Wheatley and Addie Vester Wheatley Young, now both deceased.

Wheatley was a member of Red Banks Baptist Church in Sevierville and a former member of Fairview Baptist Church in Paris. He worked for L&N Railroad until it was sold to CSX Railroad, where he retired. He was a WWII Army veteran.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son: Hubert (Connie) Wheatley of Sevierville; a sister: Hazel Young of Myrtle Beach, SC; and five grandchildren: Patrick (Jamie) Wheatley of Santa Cruz, CA, Nicholas Wheatley of Portland, OR, and Courtney, MIchael and Alexis Wheatley, all of Sevierville.

He also was preceded in death by a brother: Hubert Wheatley.
