Percy Vivian was born in Skelton, north Yorkshire, England to Richard and Jane Dawe. They lived in a mining community, his father was a mine manager, and all their friends were miners. But when Percy was 16, he became assistant in a clothier's shop and then a tailor.

At one point, he went to live with his brother Albert and his wife Thurza in Lancashire. There, Percy attended Hartley College, Manchester University for seminary. I've found no record of his work in Lancashire. He and his wife emigrated to the US about 1912. He was ordained at a church in 1912 in Union City, Benton Harbor, MI where he became a Congregational minister. His brother and his family had joined him. Before he'd left England, Percy married Annie Gertrude Bellamy. During the years in Michigan - at Union City, St. Joseph, and Cadillac - the couple had three children; two daughters and one son whom they named after Percy's father.

During WWII, Percy's ministry took him to Bon Terre, IN for several years. His son had enlisted in the army but was killed or wounded. He was MIA. Percy spent the next four years as a missionary on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean. In 1949, he returned to Bon Terre, as a well as pastoring churchs in Missoui and South Bend, IN.

By the early 1960's, he moved to Florida where he supposedly retired. He pastored a local church in Pompano Beach as well as wrote a fictional text about the first witnesses to the Resurrection. It was well-received in his field. He haad also remarried.

When he died at home, funeral services were held first in the Fort Lauderdale Community Church, Plantation, FL. His body was returned to MI where services were also held at the First Congretional Church in Cadillac. He was buried next to his first wife in "Cadillac cemetery" according to a news article on his death. A memorial to his son may also be there.
