Lena Virginia Linkous

Lena Virginia Linkous, 76, was called home by her Lord on July 17, 2006. She left this world unexpectedly and peacefully, passing away at her home in Denton, TX

Lena was born on Nov. 3, 1929, in Harford County, MD, and spent the first 71 years of her life there. In 2002 she moved to Texas to be near her family. Lena was the daughter of the late Everett and Lottie Lester Linkous.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and love of her life, Walter Witten Linkous; her adored daughter, Sue Ann Linkous; and her sister and best friend, Leila Mae Linkous Graham.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Niki Linkous Scoggins and special son-in-law, Sam Scoggins; five grandsons, Troy Scoggins, Kevin Scoggins, Matthew Scoggins, Zach Scoggins, and Link Scoggins; and two great-granddaughters, Rachel Scoggins and Jessica Scoggins, all of Texas.

Lena chose to be cremated. She was always worried about not having enough land for the living. Her ashes will be with both her Maryland and Texas families. A memorial service, in her honor, will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the DeBerry Funeral Chapel, 2025 W. University Drive in Denton. Fr. Eugene Sweeney, SM, will preside.

(Lena was born in Harford County, MD and lived within 40 miles of her birth place until she was 72 years old. Then after the death of her beloved sister, Leila (Babe), she moved to Texas to be with her daughter, son-in-law, grandsons, and great-granddaughters. She never lost her sense of adventure or "Can DO" attitude. She was an amazing person, and my example of what a wife, daughter, friend, sister, and mother should be; she was the finest! Thank you, Mom).
