US Congressman. Born at Wappingers Falls, New York, he graduated from De Garmo Institute in 1882 and from Colgate University, in 1887. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1889 and practiced law in Brooklyn and New York City. He became interested in the development of real estate of Brooklyn in 1904, was president of several companies, including a street railway company and was director of the Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn. In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth, Sixty-fifth, and Sixty-sixth Congresses, serving until 1921. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his former business activities in New York City. He died at age 83 in Rockville Centre, New York.
