E. G. Mays Jr, came to Texas with his family in 1857/8 and lived in Grimes County until about 1868 when the family moved to Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Dallas and worked as a Merchant and Clerk. He married Miss Delia Boatner first in 1877 in Anderson County, Texas, but was divorced in 1883. One child was born of this marriage. He remarried in 1885 in Bell County, Texas to Miss Eula Mims from Alabama. Four children were born of this marriage before he died He lived in Bell County and worked as a Horse and Mule Broker until his death in 1898 while on business to Taylor in Williamson County, Texas. He died at a young age with Bright's Disease. It is unknown where he was buried. His marker has not been located at any cemetery in Bell County and he is not buried with his wife or children. One male child Luther Mays was born in 1897 and died before 1910. Unknown burial location.
