(Published in the Austin American-Statesman on June 26 & 27, 2009.)

Brian Patrick Madden of Georgetown, TX, formerly of Delba, TX, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 22, 2009. Brian was born on March 4, 1958 on Ladd AFB outside of Fairbanks, AL. Brian was the fourth child of eight children born to Thomas M. Madden and Janet L. Madden.

Brian is survived by his two children, Jessica Cromwell and Phillip Cromwell; his grandchildren; Justin, Levi, Hayden, Destany and "Little" Phil.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Madden. He is also survived by his mother, Janet Madden of Georgetown, TX; brother Shawn Madden and wife Cathy of Wake Forest, NC; brother Kevin Madden and wife Mamie of Wylie, TX; brother Tom Madden and wife Sherri of Georgetown, TX; sister Mary Ann Greene and husband Mike of Alvin, TX; sister Barbara Shaver and husband Ernie of Smyrna, SC; sister Sheila Lehmann and husband David of Bartlett, TX; and brother Tim Madden and wife Judy of Allen, TX. Brian is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles whose lives were deeply touched by his here on earth.

Brian was a "Food and Beverage" man, owning and operating the "Boot and Saddle" tavern in Nevada, TX as well as partnering with "The Buzzard Tree Bar B Q" with his brother Tim in and around north Texas as well as the "Buzzard Tree" restaurant with his sister Sheila out of the Possum Creek Inn in Theon, TX. Brian was also an avid poet and song writer spending many hours playing with his friends Greg Oden, Mike Trammell, Rusty Coarson, Mike and Terri Cheakas, Keith and too many to mention in and around Fannin County. Suffering from kidney disease since the age of six, Brian received one of the first kidney transplants in Texas donated by his father on September 19, 1973. After 23 years of the gift of life, a second gift of life was given by his sister Sheila on March 6, 1996. Throughout Brian's life, the hard work, dedication, knowledge and compassion of the health care industry from Dallas to Georgetown enabled Brian to show anyone who met him that "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under Heaven". Brian found his church family in FUMC of Blue Ridge in Blue Ridge, TX under the Good Shepherd Reverend John A. Johnson. After being diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, Brian moved to Georgetown, TX in March of 2009 where he carried his Christian faith to FUMC Georgetown. After Brian's decision to forgo dialysis, all of his family in blood and marriage, his daughter Jessica and his friends from all over rallied by his side to profess their love for their brother, father, cousin, uncle and friend. Time spent in Georgetown by his siblings and their spouses was a special blessing to Mom and Brian. Everyone gave many days and hours of loving care to comfort and console him on his journey home. "Momma Kitty" wants to thank Sheila for her new home.

A special thank you for the dedication and love bestowed on our brother by the Vista Care Hospice angels Belinda, Darla and Fran. (Provided by CHS. -May 2014.)
