Joseph "Joe" Darl Newman, was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on April 29, 1930 to his Parents; Conrad Henry Newman and Gladys Welborn Fitzhugh Newman.
He was blessed with two sisters; Brenda Newman Wade, and Peggy Newman Wilson. He also had a younger Brother, Jackie Glenn Newman, who passed away on May 7, 1943 at the age of three years old.
Grandparents on his Father's side of the family were Ernest Lovell Newman and Lennie Florence Evitts Newman. Grandparents on his Mother's side of the family were Franklin Wesley Fitzhugh and Carrie Ola Welborn Fitzhugh.
He married his Wife; Lenora "Jean" Jenkins Newman on October 21, 1950, and at the time of Joe's passing they were married for fifty-one wonderful years.
He and Jean were the Parents of two Children; Teresa Newman Cartwright, and Rick Newman.
He was the proud Grandfather to the three Grandchildren; Morgan, Conrad, and Tyler.
He worked 37 1/2 years for the P & M Coal Company before his retirement and he also worked 12 years for the Old National Bank in Greenville.
Joe Newman, passed away at the age of 71 years old on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Preceded him in death by his brother; Jackie Glenn Newman.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean Newman; one daughter, Teresa (Tom) Cartwright; one son, Rick Newman; three grandchildren, Morgan Newman, Conrad Newman and Tyler Cartwright; and two sisters, Brenda Wade and Peggy Wilson.
Graveside services were held on Friday, March 22, 2002 at the Carter Creek Church Cemetery in Greenville with Reverend Rob Gwaltney officiating with burial to follow. Family request that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Charity of Choice. Gary's Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
