Services were held at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel last Friday afternoon for William Percy Chappell, 78, who died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 2. The Rev. H.E. Crews and Rev. Lloyd Smith officiated and burial was in Maple Cemetery.
Mr. Chappell was born at Bon Aqua, Tenn. on March 13, 1887 and on April 16, 1912, at Dyersburg, was married to Miss Mattie Petty. The family moved to Pemiscot county in 1925 and he farmed until retiring some years ago.
He leaves hiw wife, Mrs. Mattie Chappell of this city; two sons, Ivan Chappell of Kansas City and Ted Chappell of Memphis; two brothers, Russell Chappell of Wardell and Ewell Chappell of St. Charles, Mo.; five sisters, Mrs. Carrie Yates, Mrs. Rosie Chappell, Mrs. Lizzie Matthews, Mrs. Gertie DeLisle and Mrs. Docie Redding; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
