This Steinberger family is from Schnaittach, Germany. Schnaittach is NE of Nuremberg, 49.31N, 11.19E. Adelheid's husband's name of Jacob appears in City Directories in St. Louis where she is listed as widow of Jacob, from property records of Schnaittach and the 1870 marriage in NYC of the son Abraham and his second wife Henrietta Pforzheimer. The 1870 marriage of her son Abraham gives her maiden name as Baiersdorfer. Baiersdorf is a town about 8 miles west of Schnaittach.

The house #163 (current address Nürnberger Straße 18) was purchased by Mendel Hirsch Bayersdörfer (spelling from correspondence) in 1827 from Georg Schlicht. Half of the house, #163a was sold from Mendel Hirsch Bayersdörfer to Jacob Steinberger in 1830. Adelheid is listed as a widow in 1855 and in the same year Adelheid sold her house to Mendel Hirsch Bayersdörfer for 1500 Gulden, so that he became the owner of the entire property, #163a and #163b. [A picture I took of the house in 1999 is under her son and my great-grandfather, David Steinberg.]

In 1856 Adelheid immigrated with four young women on Ship Washington, from Bremen and Southamption to NY, arrived 6 June 1856. The passengers were Adelheid (50, F, unknown), Marie (18, F), Hanne (15), Fanny (11), Jeannette (9).

Adelheit is listed as living with Leopold at 1732 S. Park Pl in 1880 and with him in the 1870 St. Louis Census. [I could not find her in the 1860 census.] A Mrs. A. Steinberger, 1732 Mississippi, died 15 May 1885. She was 79 years old and the cause of death was "paralisle". She was born in Germany and the death record gives that she was the mother of Leopold. She was a member of Shaare Emeth. She is buried at the New Mount Sinai Cemetery, lot 2, block 15.

I could not track Hannah (found in 2017 through Topeka newspapers!), Fanny (found in 2015 by Katie!) or Jeannette although Jeannette may have lived with her sister Marie Steinberger Steinberg in Kansas in 1870. The introduction of daughter Charlotte Sicher appeared because she has one of Caroline's orphaned children living with her. If Charlotte really immigrated in 1855 per one census record, then she was only 10 years old. 2017 - Charlotte is the right age to fit with Jeanette. My guess is that these are the same person.
