MARGARET E. BRECHT, 80 formerly of Decatur, died Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Canterbury Nursing Home and Rehab Center, Fort Wayne.

Born November 7, 1923,(sic)in Decatur she was the daughter of Fredrich P. and Anne E. (Shaffner) Hancher. He married John J. Brecht on December 27, 1942.

She was a Beautician/Cosmetologist for Margaret's Beauty Booth and also worked with her husband at Brecht Jewelry Store in Decatur. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Decatur, Tri-Kappa, Ladies of the Elks, and of the former Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her son Fred M. Brecht of Decatur; two daughters, Susan Spiegel of Sebring, Florida and Ann M. Linnemeier of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Brecht; and brother Paul W. Hancher.

Services is 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church, Decatur, with the Rev. Kenneth Mahan officiating, with visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday at Haggard & Safton Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Memorials to the First United Methodist Church, Decatur.
