Samuel Patrick Day was known to most of the people in Taney County that knew him as Uncle Sam. He was a member of the New Mansion Baptist Church at Union Flat , near Bradleyville.

He came to Missouri from Letcher County , Ky with his family after losing his mother and 4 or 5 bros and sisters in about a week's time. He lost his father when he was a teenager and he was on his own , working on a ranch in Taney County for several years before he married and started his own family.

He was the son of Elder Henry Day & Mary(Polly) Maggard Day .
