Fred was the eldest son of Dr. Lemuel Grove and Laura J. (Kissell) Herbert.

He worked for the railroad, and was stationmaster and telegrapher at Perry, Michigan at the time of his death.

Fred was married at Charlotte, Michigan, on September 10, 1908 to Winifred Isabelle Blanchard, who survived him. she later married Emil Edward Sunquiest.

Fred had a congenital heart condition, and was taken prematurely by the global influenza pandemic in 1916. His only child, a son Frederick, was born a month later.

Gravesite Details

Formerly in Mausoleum. The structure was demolished, and the entombed were interred in "Railroad Track Row" in the adjoining cemetery.
