Mrs. Leora Fields Thaxton of 3656 Kenwood, retired comptroller for the Peabody and widow of George W. Thaxton, died early yesterday at Methodist Hospital after an illness.

She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She was active in the Young Women's Christian Association and past president of the Altrusa club.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Stephenson Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home on Union has charge.

She leaves three sisters, Miss Edna Fields of the home, Mrs. Kate Davis of Forrest City, Ark., and Mrs. Hugh Puckett of Springdale, Ark.
