Abijah Walter Davis died - the last Civil War Veteran. He was given full military rites. He was born in Punxsutawney July 14, 1846 and enlisted in the army when he was 16 in Company B, 74 Pennsylvania Infantry. He moved to California in 1882 living in Whittier 37 years before moving to Elsinore. Since the death of his second wife in 1929 he lived with his daughter-in-law Mrs. Tillie Davis.
