Mr.Thomas Gentry, age 79 years died at his home near Wisemantown Saturday last, after an illness of several weeks. The immediate cause of his demise, being heart failure. Decease had been in poor health for more than a year, but those familiar with his strong constitution believed he would live perhaps for years yet to dawn. But not so.When it seemed that his condition improved,so much so that he gotten out of bed and raised to a standing position, the death angel without warning and with great surprise to those near and dear to him struck the form that was so fragile and thus reaped another victory for death. Mr. Gentry was prepared for the summons, having associated himself with the Christian Church more than fifty years ago,and his life was an example that we should follow. The funeral services were conducted at the residence Sunday afternoon by Rev.Caleb Campbell after which is remains were laid to rest with masonic honors, beside those of his wife who preceded him to the grave six years .Deceased leaves a family of six children, Mr. R.L. Gentry , this city, Mrs. A.D. Benton,of Missouri,Mrs. William Boen, Mrs. Theo Wilson,Mrs. Sim Hamilton of Estill County.
