Arlie Weston Martin died at age 31 after a seven-month battle with Spindle-cell sarcoma, a soft-tissue cancer which attacked his stomach, bowels and intestines. He was the eldest of three children born to Delmar Moffitt Martin and Priscilla Janette Featherston. He was born in Portland, OR, and moved to Clackamas at age 12 with his mother and two younger siblings, brother John and sister Neoma.
As a youth Arlie was known for his profound love of animals. He was very gentle with them, and could catch anything wild, including a hummingbird, with his bare hands! He has never been without a fish tank or two (or seven!), and for years he raised chickens and later, Koi.
Arlie graduated from Clackamas High School in 1995 and held various jobs as a restaurant cook, a welder, and most recently a radiographer and x-ray technician for Precision Cast Parts.
Arlie was an excellent mechanical thinker. He could fix or build anything, and had wonderful problem-solving skills. As a teenager he spent his time building custom Mustangs from auction cars. As an adult his love for motorcycles, especially the ZRX, took over, and he was always modifying one bike or another.
Arlie married Andrea L Macki on August 26, 2000. Together they have two children, a daughter, Samantha Carol and a son, Bruce Wayne. His sincerest wish is that his friends and family help his children to remember him and know who their father is.
Arlie was a kind, generous and fun-loving man. Though he could be a prankster, he was also the first in line to help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his many talents, his kindness and his sense of humor. He is loved and sorely missed.
