Arthur L Walser passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon, April 26, 1980, and was pronounced dead on arrival at Owosso Memorial Hospital. Age 81 years.

Mr. Walser was born in Saginaw on September 17, 1898, to Frank and Daisy (Kremer) Walser. Arthur moved to Chesaning with his parents when he was two years old. Arthur graduated Chesaning High School in 1916.

Arthur married Ferne Vivian Johnson, daughter of Athelia (Shuster) and June Johnson, in Bay City on August 16, 1922. Mr. Walser had the first wireless in the area. He owned and operated the broadcast station "8BGJ". He had a superb collection of Indian artifacts that he had collected over the years. The artifacts have been donated to the University of Michigan.

Mr. Walser was a life member of the Chesaning Masonic Lodge; a past member of Chesaning Village Council, serving for fifteen years; past member of the Chesaning Showboat boat crew; high priest of The Corunna Masonic Lodge; and a life member of the American Legion. Arthur was a veteran of World War I.

Arthur owned the Chesaning Electric Company and after selling the company in 1942 he worked at General Motors AC Spark Plug Experimental Electric Division until 1963.

Survivors include his wife, Ferne; one daughter,Mrs. Richard (Patricia A.) Dawson of Cadillac; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Kinsey of Grand Rapids; a half-brother, Mr. Keats Walser of Lansing, and a half-sister Mrs. Ron (Mary Jo) Homrich of Kalamazoo.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 29 at the Misiuk-Morse Funeral Home. A private cremation took place on Monday with Fr. Lewis Towler officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church or to the Chesaning Library.
