Rev. A. A. Sparks who has been in ill health for many months passed peaceably away Saturday at his home on Fulton Street. Mr. Sparks for many years had resided on his farm south of Mayville and until last fall when because of failing health he traded his farm for the Rob't Reed residence in Mayville and with his wife, daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Smith and family have lived together in their new home since that time. Rev. Sparks was loved by all of his acquaintances one every hand you could hear it remarked, "He was a grand old man." He was highly esteemed by all and especially among the young people, as was made evident when he was called upon to perform at so many wedding ceremonies. The Monitor had hoped to print the life of Rev. Sparks, but it was a request of his not to do so. We are assured his ministering here speaks for itself. The funeral was held from the Baptist Church, of which he was a member, on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Lloyd Welton, officating, with kind remarks by Rev. Zemmer. Six brother pastors carried his body to its resting place in Rich Cemetery.
Obituary supplied by Rae Marie Brian, great-granddaughter of Alonzo Sparks.
