On August 5, 1876, around a campfire in Custer's Gulch, Black Hills, South Dakota the District No.1 Custer Park Mining Company was formed. Later known as the Homestake Mines, Timothy's claim read - Tim Hayes No.11 below discovery.

Tombstone shows birth as 1853 but birth certificate says 1848
