John William Barbiaux, 92, of New Kensington, died Thursday, June 4, 2009. Born Oct. 18, 1916, in Arnold, he was a 1934 graduate of Arnold High School and was an Arnold and New Kensington resident his entire life. Mr. Barbiaux was an electrician for Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), New Kensington, for 44 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member and deacon of Grace Community Presbyterian Church of Lower Burrell, and the ALCOA 25 Year Club. During World War II, Mr. Barbiaux was a master sergeant with the Army in radio intelligence. He held the highest civilian license rating, Extra Class. He also enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley C. (Fulton) Barbiaux; five sons, Gary Russell (Judy) Barbiaux, of Killeen, Texas, Paul John (Janice) Barbiaux, of Cabot, Edward Lynn (Eileen) Barbiaux, of New Kensington, and Stephen Alan (Carrie) Barbiaux and David Eric (Sherry) Barbiaux, both of Lower Burrell; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Augustine (Hubert) Barbiaux; and siblings, Adolph, Joseph, Gustave and Robert Barbiaux, Kathryn Burbaker, Marie Scandrol and Victoria Van Dorn. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Kenneth Foust. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
