DeAnn was born and raised in Hyde Park and with the exception of a few years in Chula Vista, California and Rupert, Idaho where she taught school. She resided in Hyde Park until moving to Smithfield three years ago. She always said it was hard to get an "Old Hyde Parker" out of Hyde Park.

DeAnn received a degree in Business Administration and Business Education ttom Utah State University and returned to get her Master's degree in Business Education. She enjoyed teaching very much and especially enjoyed the companionship she had with her students.

DeAnn married David L. McArthur on 12 May 1978 in Hyde Park and three years later they were sealed on their anniversary in the Logan Temple. Although DeAnn and David had no children, she has three step children ttom David's previous marriage: Lesa (William) Keffeler, Julie Branca, and Jeffrey Scott (Lisa) McArthur. She especially felt a real bonding with David's oldest daughter and her family. She is survived by her husband, David, his three children, four granddaughters and two grandsons. She is also survived by two nieces (Gloria Peterson and Bonnie Erickson), two nephews (Michael and David Gittins) and many dear cousins with whom she felt a special closeness. DeAnn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dr. David Arthur Gittins.

DeAnn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in all auxiliaries. While in California, she served as second counselor in the Young Women's Organization. She served in the Primary, as a Relief Society teacher, a Stake Relief Society Secretary, Ward Relief Society Secretary; and for several years worked as a typist at the Logan Temple. During all this time she fought a battle with Multiple Sclerosis since 1967. She was involved in the genealogy extraction program for the Hyde Park Stake since it was first introduced. She loved this work and using her skills at the computer.
