The HOLLIS WEEKLY NEWS, dated Jan. 20, 1950.
David C. [sic] Crabb, 89, pioneer Harmon county settler, died January 12 at his home in Hollis. Funeral services were conducted at two-thirty p.m. Saturday, January 14, at the Hollis Baptist Church with the Rev. L. S. Abernathy officiating.
Born October 30, 1860, in Limestone county, Alabama [sic], Mr. Crabb, known to many here as "Uncle Dick", was a resident of Harmon county since December, 1906. In 1879 he was married to Miss Emma Slaton, and to the union were born five children: Mrs. Rosie Coffman, David Marion Crabb, George T. Crabb, Mrs. Anna Prock, Mrs. Mable Chumley. Two of the children, Mrs. Coffman and David Marion are deceased, Mrs. Crabb also proceeded her husband in death on March 5, 1918.
The surviving children are all Harmon county residents. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Pruitt of Hollis, twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Pallbearer were grandsons of Mr. Crabb. Honorary bearers were George Teague, Guy Cummins, Ben Seright, Elmer Seright, Winford Warren, Raymond Metcalf, Will J. Cummins, Cecil Trammell, Orville Rippetoe.
Burial was in Fairmount, with the Petty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
