The Mathews Journal,
Thurs, 22 Nov 1923,
p1, c3

Captain William Enoch Hutson died at his home at New Point last Friday the 16th. He was 61 years old and had been in poor health for a long time, yet his death was unexpected.

Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. G. R. Rood Monday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in Friendship cemetery.

For many years Captain Hutson had been connected with the fishing trade and was widely known for his ability along this line. It is said that he was the highest paid master along the coast and his services were in (illegible).

As a man he stood high in the estimation of his fellow citizens, his sense of fairness and integrity being of the highest type. His death is a serious loss to the county and particularly to those with whom he was closely associated.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah E. Hutson; three sons, William, George and Russell; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Armistead; two brothers, J. M. and G. L. Hutson and three sisters, Mrs. Wesley Ripley, Mrs. Burlie Hudgins and Mrs. Hezekiah Forrest.

Capt. Hutson was a member of the Oriental Lodge No. 20, A.F. & A.M., of Mathews, and Naoman Tribe, I.O.R.M., No. 111, of Port Haywood. His funeral was conducted with the rites and honors of both these lodges.
