Mary W. McIntire was born in Kentucky in July 1840, to parents Nicholas McIntire (1802-1859) and Eliza D. Sims (1802-1892) both also born in Kentucky. Mary had 3 brother and 4 sisters: James McIntire (1830-1908), Elizabeth Sims McIntire-Adams (1833-1913), William D. McIntire (ca 1835-), Amanda McIntire (ca 1838-), Melvina McIntire-Wyatt (1844-1909), Alvira Jane McIntire-Bailey (1847-1910), and Andrew L. McIntire (1850-1920). About 1860, Mary married George Q. Adams (Mary's sister Elizabeth married George's brother John Adams) and George and Mary settled into a life of farming in Montgomery County, Kentucky. They had nine children: James B. (Dr.) Adams (1861-1908), John Davis Adams (1863-1942), William Henry (Dr.) Adams (1866-), David Adams (ca 1868-), Viola Adams (ca 1871-), A. Pearl Adams (ca 1873-), Mary Melvina Adams (1876-), George W. Adams (ca 1879-), and Andrew Adams (1881-). Mary continued on the farm for more than 10 years after her husband died and then moved and was living in the household of her son John Adams in Clark County, Kentucky before she died.
