Lola Lorene Mann, 89, of Moran, Kansas, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kansas.

Lorene was born May 6, 1920, at Moran, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur Glen and Martha Esther (Reynolds) Jackson.

She grew up in the Mildred, Kansas area and graduated from Mildred High School.

On January 24, 1947, Lorene married Delbert F. Mann in Ft. Scott, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1982.

They made their home in the Mildred area where she worked as a cook for the Mildred schools. In 1959, the family moved to Moran where she worked for George Varner at his restaurant, for Gene Robertson at his grocery store and later as a cook for the Moran schools from which she retired. She had also worked in the aviation plants in Wichita, KS, during World War II.

Lorene was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church and the Moran American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed baking for the church and civic organizations in Moran and traveling with her sisters.

Survivors include, one son, Gary Mann & wife, Pam of Pryor, OK; one daughter, Nancy Roberts of Iola, KS; 5 grandchildren, Taylor Mann of Claremore, OK; Trevor Mann of Pryor, OK; Stana Mead of Bolivar, MO; Dawn Wilson and Heather Curry both of Iola, KS; 7 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler & Ashten Wilson, Mason Moorefield, Ryker & Braxton Curry, and Teegan Mann; three brothers, Glenn Jackson & wife, Lucille, of Ellinwood, KS; Cecil Jackson & wife, Dottie, of Gran Terra, OK; and James Jackson & wife, Maxine of Erie, KS; and three sisters, Kathryn Deer of Ft. Scott, KS; Virginia Henderson of Kincaid, KS; and Dorothy Dice of Garnett, KS.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Moran United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Moran Cemetery.

Memorials suggested to Moran United Methodist Church, or The Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangments.
