Waterville – Mrs. Ida B. Jones, 89, of Waterville, a resident of this area for the past 40 years, died in a Wenatchee hospital Saturday evening.
Mrs. Jones was born in West Virginia April 7, 1880, the daughter of Matthew Griffin, an early-day railroad contractor. She came West with her family, living in railroad construction camps from Minnesota to Coulee City. She received her education in Boise, Idaho.
Later she lived in Okanogan County where her father was one of the first County Commissioners of that county. At Riverside she operated the post office with her late husband, Henry Thomas Jones.
Since 1929 she had made her home with her daughter at Withrow.
Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Vanira Gimlin, Withrow; a niece and two nephews who were raised in the home, Mrs. Sam Garrett, Waterville, Dan Griffin, Everett, and Jim Griffin, Moscow, Idaho; and a brother, Ross Griffin, Oroville.
