JOHN J. LOGAN
John J. Logan was born in Muskingum Co., Ohio September 28th, 1845 and died after a short illness December 11th, 1926.
He came to Iowa when 11 years of age, locating near Ottumwa, Iowa, where he grew to manhood and later located near Russell, Iowa, where he lived until his death.
He was united in marriage to Eliza Anna Miller October 1st, 1870. To this union were born six children, two having died in infancy. His wife passed away April 15th, 1908.
He leaves to mourn his loss Mrs. N. C. Gookin of Harding, Montana, Lorena and Artie Logan at home, and Iva Linville, all of Russell, also four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Elyman Jeffries of Russell, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Wist of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Lucinda Thompson of Ottumwa, Iowa, and three brothers, Jacob Logan of Garden City, Kansas, Christopher Logan of Canon City, Colo., and Lincoln Logan of St. Maria, Colo.
He united with the Methodist church when a young man and lived a true christian life, devoted to his family and home. He was a loving father and a kind neighbor, loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at his home on December 13th, conducted by Rev. G. J. Stephens of the Russell Methodist church. Burial was in the Russell cemetery.
