THE SWIM FAMILY TREE: MAIMIE SWIM PADGETT NIBARGER: Page 17......George W. Swim went to Ohio as a young man. His uncle, Alexander Swim, had passed through western Ohio with the Tenth Kentucky Militia in the War with England in 1812. This regiment was a part of the American Army sent to the aid of General Hull at Detroit. Hull surrendered before these reinforcements reached him and they were diverted to William Henry Harrison's command by Governor Shelby of Kentucky. They participated in the Battle of Tippicanoe and camped in present Shelby County, Ohio, until sent up to Lake Erie.Alexander Swim told young George Swim about the rich agricultural lands in the Ohio County.

George W. Swim settled at Bodkins Station in present Shelby County, Ohio (named after the Kentucky Governor).George married Candus Parr, a granddaughter of Sam H. Parr and his wife who was a daughter of the Leslie family; she was the daughter of Richard Parr and Mary Miller Parr. They were married in February, 1838, Licking County, Ohio.

THE DESCENDANTS OF RICHARD PARR(1980)...page 9...Candas Parr was born in Licking County, Ohio, and married George Swim. They moved to Logan County, Ohio, for a time and then about 1849 to Botkins, Ohio. The last few years of her life, they lived in Forsythe, Illinois, where she died and was buried. George Swim returned to Botkins and lived there with his son, Deamus. There he died and was buried in Loramie Cemetery.

George and Candas (Parr) Swim had eight children, listed below.
