He was born in Washington, DC, a son of Arthur L. and Jean Andrew Castillo on February 16, 1914. Pappy retired after 46 years as a supervisor with Southern Bell Telephone. He was a member of the Charleston Lodge # 242, B.P.O. Elks, an avid golfer and a volunteer at 2nd Presbyterian Church.
Pappy is survived by his wife, Mary G. Castillo of Charleston; a daughter, Carole C. McCrary of James Island; four grandchildren, Michael K. McCrary of Houston, TX, Karen M. Kuhn of Charleston, Melinda J. McCrary of Arlington, VA, Susie McCrary of Charleston; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Quality Time St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 405 King St., Charleston, SC 29403. A place that Pappy spent many happy hours over the years.
