Incarcerated for 40 years for; Robbery 1st degree 8 counts, consecutively (5 years, 8 counts)of Los Angeles Railway corp. Recieved November 16,1923. occupation:cook. Education; 3 1/2 years. Family; wife. Prisoner was armed with a revolver.

THE CRIME: Defendent held up numerous street conductors and took money changes and in addition the personal money and valuables of the conductors.
PRIOR RECORD: served 3 years in San Quentin; served Folsom before 10 years 1910-1917 paroled.
Four robberies total $179.

Interestingly Mr.George B.Anderson the man he robbed wrote a letter for the parole board dated Sept. 28, 1931 for "I am prompted, after very careful deliberation over the last letter from Mr.Collins, to state that I would not interpose objection to the granting of a parole to him. The tone of his letterleads me to believe that his outlook upon life has materially changed as a result of the long opportunity he has had for self-analysis and to take stock of his obligations to himself and his wife, and community at large"

When arrested he gave the name he had been using in California of Walter J. Collins. His birth name was Walter Joseph Anson. He was the son of John W. and Delia Anson.
