Walter Newton Broyles, 82, of Stanley died Monday afternoon, April 1, at Newton D Baker Veterans Center, Martinsburg, W Va. He was born Aug 22, 1891 at Waynesboro and was a son of the later Walker and Rebecca Taylor Broyles. On Dec 19, 1919 he married the former Effie I Taylor, who survives. Surviving besides his wife, are three sons, Thurman Broyles of Winter Park, Fla; Marshall Broyles of Shenandoah, and Leon Broyles of Georgia; four daughters, Mrs. Pansy Brillhart and Mrs. Rosalie Snelbaker, both of York, Pa; Mrs. Naomi Stanley of Shenandoah, and Mrs. Margie Banach of Stanley; two brothers, David L Broyles and Otis Broyles, both of Baltimore, Md; 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. O.L. Martin. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. (PNC, Thursday 21 Dec 1972)
