Jesus Eusebio "Jessie" Flores

Jesus Eusebio (Jessie) Flores, 47, of Garden City, Texas went to meet his maker on January 13, 2009. Jessie was a great son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Jessie had a personality bigger than Texas and never met a stranger. He would always help a person in need and had a special place in his heart for children and youth. Jessie created a drip irrigation model used to increase awareness of water conservation with elementary age students. Additionally, he volunteered countless hours at the Howard Cottage Pre-school and was instrumental in building the award winning "Ginger Bread House" float in a past Christmas Parade. Jessie also coached YMCA basketball and Little League Baseball teams for over 6 years and was a strong supporter of Garden City Bearkats athletics and youth programs. Jessie grew up in the Hill Country of Texas in the agricultural community of Rocksprings. He worked for Walter (Buddy) Thurman since the tender age of 13 until he graduated from high school and gained a love for the great outdoors and working livestock. He shared his love of working and showing livestock with his children as they participated in 4-H projects for over 14 years.

Jessie was born on October 14, 1961 in Sonora, Texas to Jesus (Chuy) and Odelmira (Odel) Flores. He graduated from Rocksprings High School in 1981. Upon graduating from high school he enrolled and graduated from TSTI in Sweetwater. While at TSTI he met the love of his life Ernestina (Tina) Hernandez of Sterling City. He and Tina married on April 16, 1983 and in 2008 celebrated 25 years of marriage. Jessie's greatest legacies are his two children, Anna Flores, 23 of Midland and Jason Flores, 19 of Garden City. Jessie was Anna and Jason's greatest supporter. If Anna and Jason were participating in a game, cross country/track meet or any spectator event you could bet that Jessie was present providing guidance and support.

Jessie was employed by ECO-Drip where he served as the District Warehouse Manager. The ECO-Drip employees were more than co-workers they were his extended family. Jessie is survived by his parents, Jesus (Chuy) Flores and Odelmira Baltazar Flores of San Angelo; his wife, Tina Flores of Garden City; a daughter, Anna Flores of Midland; a son, Jason Flores of Garden City; a sister, Dee Dee VonAhn and husband, Kurt of Mexia; a sister, Elvira Gallegos and husband, Manuel of San Angelo; a brother, Javier Flores and wife, Christy of Big Spring; a niece, Jessica Gonzales and husband, Eric of Big Spring; a niece, Kristie McClelland and husband, Joey of San Antonio; a nephew, Taybor Flores of Big Spring and a special aunt, Odelia Gartman of San Angelo.

A vigil/rosary service was held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 16, 2009 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Bernard Gettigan, officiating. Interment will follow at Garden City Cemetery.
