Eckert Knapp and family lived with Salome. Mary's husband was Charles, age 29, who worked as a clerk in a coal company. He was from Prussia. Their children were Alvin, age 4, and Tilla (Matilda), age 2.
Sarah Eckert, widow of William, was listed in the 1875 city directory as living on Eckert Street, Allegheny City. They must have moved from McClure Township ca. 1874. Some directories had a more descriptive location as Eckert Street near or above Shady Avenue. Today, Shady Avenue is called Geyer Avenue. She was shown living on Eckert Street until the time of her death.
For the 1880 Census, she used the first name of Sarah again. She and her son George are living on Eckert Street, 11th Ward, Allegheny City. Eckert Street exists today. George whose age was given as 26 is single and a gardener. They were living with Sarah's widowed daughter Mary (Maria Anna) Knapp age 35 and her 3-children (Alvin age 14, Matilda age 12 and Charles age 10).
