Alfred O. Miller, 84, Hobart, Oklahoma passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at Hobart Living Center. He was born January 4, 1925 in Cooperton, Oklahoma to John Henry and Maude Edith (Mendenhall) Miller. Alfred graduated from Cooperton High School in 1942 and went on to serve in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II.

August 31, 1949 he married Velma Bernice Kenimer in Wichita Falls, Texas. Alfred farmed in Cooperton Valley most of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Roosevelt.

Survivors include his wife Velma, Hobart, Oklahoma; two daughters: Gretta and Johnnie C. Abramson, Clinton, OK; Kay Miller and Phillip Bird, Oklahoma City; one son Mark and Cindy Miller, Elk City, OK; three grandsons, Douglas and Amanda Miller, Lochbuie, Colorado; David and Esther Miller, Sterling, Kansas; and Daniel Miller, Elk City, OK; one great-granddaughter: Emma Jene Miller; a sister-in-law Zita Miller, Oklahoma City; five nieces, Paula Block, Barbara Pederson, Deanna Cook, Peggy Bomar and Rita Tumbleson; and two nephews, Bobby Miller and Gerald Murphey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Minnetta Carpenter, Velma G. Miller and Nadine Murphey; three brothers, Glenn Miller, Marvin Miller and Harold Miller, and a nephew Carl Carpenter and an infant sister.

Services were at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Roosevelt, Oklahoma with Rev. Alvin Funkhouser officiating. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cooperton, Oklahoma,under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
