Professional Football Player. He played at the defensive and offensive end positions for three seasons (1947 to 1949) in the All-America Football Conference and National Football League with the New York Yankees, Baltimore Colts and Detroit Lions. Born Oliver Lamar Poole, he attended Crosby High School in Mississippi and played collegiate football at the University of North Carolina and the University of Mississippi. He was chosen by the New York Giants during the 15th round of the 1944 NFL Draft, and appeared in 22 career AAFC an NFL games. He was the first cousin of the famed Poole brothers, Buster, Ray and Barney who were standout college and professional football players.
