Olive E. Barrett, 93 of Grant and Fort Gratiot Townships., passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Medilodge of Port Huron. She was born to Charles and Mabel Lawry on June 13, 1916 in Grant Twp.
Olive was a member of North Street United Methodist Church, the Arc of St. Clair County Auxiliary, and the A.A.R.P.
She was also a member of the Museum of Arts and History and the Blue Water Hiking Club.
Olive is survived by her daughter, Betsy (William) Egypt of Jeddo; four grandchildren, Robin (Erik) Cohoon of Columbia, MD, Joni (Chris) Adams of Jeddo, Steven Schef of Orlando, FL, and Donald (Lynn) Egypt of Port Huron; eight great grandchildren; her sister, Helen Glenn of New Jersey; her sister-in-law, Marie Lawry of Port Huron Twp; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Barrett, who died in December of 1985.
She was also predeceased by two sons, John Allen Barrett and Gordon "Chip" Barrett, and her brother, Charles Lawry.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in North Street United Methodist Church preceded by one hour of visitation.
Interment will be in Kinney Cemetery at a later date.
